Prayer

For me, prayer is a surge of the heart;

it is a simple look turned toward heaven,

it is a cry of recognition and of love,

embracing both trial and joy.

St Thérèse of Lisieux

First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings should be made for everyone, for kings and all who are in high positions, so that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and dignity. This is right and is acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour, who desires everyone to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.

1 Timothy 1:1-4

In this section of the Liturgy Office website, which is under development, there will be Traditional prayers of the Church, an invitation to respond in prayer to current events in the world and people’s lives together with material for devotions and popular piety, and information about various ways of praying.

Also in this section there are Spirituality Resources from the Spirituality Committee of the Department for Christian Life and Worship.

Glory be to the Father

and to the Son

and to the Holy Spirit

as it was in the beginning,

is now, and ever shall be

world without end. Amen.
